Smoking During Pregnancy: What You Need to Know
Smoking while pregnant can seriously harm both you and your baby. It increases the risk of complications like premature birth, low birth weight, and even stillbirth. Babies exposed to smoke in the womb are also more likely to have breathing problems and other health issues as they grow.
The good news is that quitting smoking at any point during pregnancy can make a big difference. The earlier you stop, the better and it’s never too late to get support.
Whether you're pregnant, planning a pregnancy, or supporting someone who is, we’re here to help you make informed choices and give your baby the healthiest possible start in life.
If at any time you want to discuss stopping smoking you can always talk to your midwife, health visitor or GP for friendly advice on the best way to achieve your goal.
